Holy cow!!! He is a big boy/girl!!! Do they have a tendency to be friendly and want human attention?

Quality minced beef....... He will eat anything he can get his claws on, snakes, birds and rodents... He is quite timid and will take off if surprised, but once I throw meat at him he will let me come quite close..

Great shots. We visited New South Wales over 50 years ago, for our honeymoon. We spent all but two nights in Sydney then roamed around for the next 8 days seeing some beautiful country. My wife would have freaked out if she saw one of those. She did have an encounter with an emu at a preserve but a ranger came to her rescue and chased the bird away. Only many years after that trip did she learn about some of the other critters down there!

Perhaps he's hoping for an even larger meal? I'd keep my distance; even a little nip would likely start a nasty infection.

Beautiful shots!!! If he should ever bite you (even a tiny nip), get medical attention immediately. Monitor lizards secrete venom that is not fatal to humans, but most often causes bacterial infection and that could turn to Sepsis which can be deadly.

Nice capture, they can whip their tail very fast. Thus, be careful.

He's cool! But I would be careful, he is going to lose his fear of you.

I take NO CHANCES with this bloke at all... If you get bitten, the sore will continue to break out for a very long time...
