Nikon Service Center goes extra mile... literally!

That kind of service will pay off in the long run. Kudos to the employee.
It sure made my friend glad he bought a new Nikon camera. He is very pleased by the service.
Those are very refreshing news. In the past, during the film era, I had my difficulties with a Nikon N6000 camera that was still under warranty. The camera was using lots of juice which I knew was not normal. The camera went to Atlanta, where Nikon had a service facility and returned to me because after testing it they said they could not find anything wrong with it.
I then sent a letter to the main Nikon CEO in NY, a Japanese gentleman, stating my issues with the camera. It was the NY repair facilities who told me there was nothing wrong with the camera but I had to buy new batteries every three weeks or so. It was the only camera I ever had that required the frequent use of new batteries. The CEO ordered that I be sent a new camera, it was the N8008, a much better camera and they sent it to me for free. That has been the only time I had a Nikon camera that required service during the warranty period.

Recently I talked to my good friend who just purchased a Nikon ZFC. He has had it since Christmas. He does a lot of bicycling and likes to take landscape and nature shots. He said he got a spot on the sensor and wanted to clean it but was very nervous about doing so. We discussed cleaning options.
Yesterday he took his Subaru to the dealer for service which is not too far from the Nikon Service Center in Los Angeles. He decided to stop at the Service Center (no appointment) and ask them about the sensor cleaning. "Vic" at the Service Center said they could clean the sensor no charge for him and have it ready when his car was done.
The car service was supposed to take 2 hours. It ended up taking 4 hours and the Nikon Service Center would be closed by the time my buddy got his car back. So there he sat at the dealer.
He called Vic at the Service Center and explained the dilemma and delay. Vic said "No problem, I can drop your camera off to you."
And sure as heck, Vic did exactly that! Upon closing up the Service Center he drove to the car dealer and hand delivered my buddy's freshly cleaned and pristine camera with a spot free sensor.
My hat is off to the LA Nikon Service Center!!! They have always done me right and this is just one more good ending story about strong customer service on the Nikon end. Kudos to Vic and the folks at Nikon Service Center in Los Angeles. You rock.

It's nice to know that some folks still care. I called DMV yesterday to get info...the first gal that I spoke to couldn't get off the phone quick enough. I had to call back and the second gal that I spoke to couldn't help me enough. She was a delight.
You have hit upon my standard technique. If you get a useless agent just hang up and dial again. Randomly picking agents might yield a winner. At least that is often better that dealing with a robot. In that case adding a stream of profanity to your command “AGENT” can be good therapy. Next step is to dump the vendor. Verizon, I don’t want to buy a *#&$@%g phone! You are out of my life. Of course, if you have to deal with a monopoly you have to probe their system for a crack their defenses. BTW Spectrum, I did not approval your acquisition of Time Warner Cable accounts!

That must have been in the mid to late 80's. I wonder if you would get that kind of response from the CEO today!
My experience with Nikon service center was fantastic. I sent my D750 for a repair, suddenly wouldn’t focus. Was repaired and so much more…cleaned inside and out and new grips - exactly like new!!!

The rubber cover of most cameras are meant to be used once. Once they peeled it off to access the inside of the camera they have to replace it. Of course non factory repair techs may try to reuse it.

It is nice when a response is obtained and it has a great ending like yours. I have also had an interface with Vic at the LA Service Center and he was absolutely the nicest man and right away by just listening to him help the customer in front of me, that he was a total customer service oriented person. Nikon will be hard pressed to find another man like him.
