crap! Just realized your wedding must have been today...Sunday! Hope it went well - soorry!
@ MissLauraLee: I know this note will get to you after your wedding shoot, but hopefully my info will help in future shoots. I also have the Tamron 18-270mm lens that I used for my last wedding shoot in August 2011. I had my tripod with me, but did more hand-held shots than anything. You mentioned that you didn't have a tripod, may I suggest one? [If you haven't already bought one.]
I have two tripods that I use with my different cameras. The one tripod that I use with my Canon EOS 60D is a "Targus" 66-inch [very sturdy!] that I bought at Target for around $35.00-$40.00 [give or take few bucks]; the 66-inch refers to the height once it's raised with the lever. It comes with a detachable plate that you can screw into the bottom of your camera, into the area where you would normally attach the camera to the tripod. Once you put this plate on your camera, you just leave it on and then 'slip' into the area that holds the plate on the camera; I know it's a little hard to visualize just by reading about it. When I was shooting the 'reception' part inside the restaurant, the restaurant had turned the lights way down [for ambience I guess] which made for terrible photography. I had to resort to using my flash quite a bit & turning up my ISO speed to 1600. For the shots taken inside during the reception, I'm having to do quite a bit of editing with Photoshop. I use my lighter weight tripod with my Canon Powershot SX30 IS and it's perfect for that camera. I've attached an original photo showing how the lighting looked inside during the reception while I was shooting. Good luck to you in the future & always feel free to ask questions, that's how you grow as a photographer! You also might want to check into finding a camera club in the area you live in. I belong to 2 clubs and am always learning something new.

@debbiesweds: I agree with you about the wedding list for photos! I have a "generic" list that I have stored on my computer and when I go for the 1st meeting with the "prospective" bride/groom, I take 2 copies with me, one for them and one for me. We go over the entire list with respect to what is listed and they tell me which photos they would like. After wards, when I get home, then I customize the list to the wedding photos they selected. It makes it a lot easier to work with on the wedding day.
I'm also one to "opt" for outside wedding photos whenever possible [depending on the weather], but did get some really good inside shots in the church from the wedding I did in January 2011. I was using my Olympus Camedia E-10 at that time, since that was the only digital DSLR that I had. I still have that camera even though I've upgraded to a Canon EOS 60D. I've attached one of the 'inside' wedding photos that was taken with this Olympus camera. I also used my "Targus" tripod with this camera for the formal shots. I also use a flash diffuser with me flash when needed.

To MissLauraLee: Great to hear that you got some good shots at the wedding that you did. I'll be looking forward to seeing the photos when you get a chance to post them. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday! :)
According to me, you should do auto setting because almost photographers use this setting. Auto setting would be very easy and helpful for you to use that setting.
