I curious to what you people think. I'm forming an opinion and I'm wondering if I'm on the right track.

Highly talented photographer who has built a very successful on-line business as a trainer/teacher. Similar MO to Serge Ramelli by initially attracting clients to buy courses by offering free on-line content which naturally over time has reduced. The free on-line content was valuable and professionally produced. Not sure if all of it is still available. Highly personable and effective communicator.

Expanded to a monthly subscription offering with personal coaching, although I understand that enrollment is now closed. Markets under the title "Photography Academy".

I think at one stage a B & H Ambassador, not sure if he still is involved.

He is that, for sure.

I've downloaded a few of his "free" e-books, meaning I've had to sit through a 2 hr sales webinar to get the download link. I'm sure that's how he gets people to pay for the classes.

Just looked him up on YouTube and watched this tutorial on depth of field - my opinion - lackluster. The only thing he talked about is shooting at either f/16 or f/2.8 (as if aperture was the sole determinant) leaving out any detail about where point of focus needs to be (for deep depth of field photos) and the effect that camera to subject distance has on depth of field. A newcomer to photography would be getting less than half the story from this tutorial. Perhaps his courses are better but I’ve seen other tutorials offered (for free) on the topic that do a much better job at really explaining the topic.

I used to find Tony and Chelsea annoying, but over time I grown to respect their opinions a lot.

I never found them annoying. In fact, I always marveled at the impossible to fake respect that they show each other. They are an inspiration to me.

Here in February 2024, a limitless amount of free - F R E E - photography training is available on the internet. Don't waste your money on more training until you've exhausted this limitless amount of free - F R E E - knowledge sharing and training.

God no....I'm not paying for training. I've subscribed to quite a few YouTubers. I feel that I'm not as good as I could be and I have still a lot to learn. Even though I've been doing it for a while, now that I have a new camera I'm back in the soaking in as much information as possible.

I think what bothers me the most about Tim is when you watch his webinars is what he claims that his classes are worth and what he sells them for during the webinar at a "severe discount" saying that it's such a deal. I guess if he can get people to buy the classes it works for him then.
