Taken in gray February, so these colors are greatly enhanced
I hadn't heard the term "layer cake" until I joined UHH: a landscape scene where there is no leading line into the composition, only horizontal lines. What do you think? Are you blocked from entering here and roaming around? Do you think certain elements, such as close fencing, are worse and to be avoided? Is a distant landscape easier or more difficult to immerse yoursef?

Hi Linda. Just got around to studying this photo. It’s got a lot of interesting features. If I were editing it I would try several things. The main interest is in the center so I would try to reinforce that by cropping th bottom down the bottom of the trees. If you want to keep that grassy area I would make it much darker. Similarly, I would darken the sky a bit and significantly darken the mountains and to a lesser degree the hills. This is all to keep focus toward the center and not have it fade off the edges. Lastly, I would clone out the white post on the right for the same reason. Just my 2 cents since you asked!

Thanks so much for your time, Dan! I see your point about darkening or eliminating the grass in foreground; that's a great suggestion.
I will try some edits to the sky and mountains also; not sure 'til I see. The white "post" - mentioned by a couple of folks in this thread - is a massive (35' usually) wind machine. Hard for me to let go of that, as they are so much a part of the commercial orchard landscapes here.
