Back in the late-eighties when I was stationed at NAS Chase Field near Beeville, TX. I would occasionally spend my leisure time playing the on-base 9-hole course. It was a fairly challenging course with three large ponds on it. As it was, a member of the construction battalion would suppliment his income by wading into the shallow waters, (pillow case in hand) and retrieve lost balls then clean them up and sell them 3 for a dollar. They all seemed to perform just as well as my new more expensive ones. Unfortunately, he wasn't in business long due to the discovery of a pair of water moccasins in one of the ponds.
