Wow, awesome shot! About what does that canon macro lens run?
The non "L" 100mm canon macro is around $550. Worth every penny. Works great for portraits and kids too, because you don't have to get too close!
Here are a couple more macros. The bee I made a somewhat abstract background.
The 55mm F2 SMC Takumar is a Pentax screw mount which needs an M42 to Canon EOS adapter. The lens is about $30-40 on e-Bay. The adapter is $20. This set-up is good for close-ups and because of F2 you can radically defocus the backround. Tamron makes a new 60mm AF macro $600 - thats when I went to the Takumar . Incidentally the Takumar is one of the sharpest lenses I have EVER used for any and everything. Make sure it is the SMC F2 version ! I also have the Tamron 90mm macro inadaptall 2 mount manual focus ( about $175 ) - it is great but only goes to 1:2 - beyond that I go to bellows with an enlarging lens on the front.
