I visited the Attic and decided it was not the place for me. I solved my issues easily, I just didn't go back.
My Comparative Government in High School spoke many words of wisdom but the ones I remember best was: "Rights are like muscles. If you don't exercise them you loose them." IMO perhaps the most important of those is The right to free exchange of ideas, even if you don't agree with them. Oh yeah, that's called free speech!
If you don't agree with a person's belief system you have every right to present a rebuttal by stating your own. BUT ad hominem attacks negate your argument to the level of drivel causing it to be ignored by rational people. The people who state their beliefs and ideas are not necessarily "Idiots" or "Low IQ", they are simply people who see, believe and act differently

I used to think that the Attic was hidden from public view. I was wrong. People without UHH accounts can find it and read the posts if they know where to look. I discovered this today by logging out as a test. I don't follow the attic, but sometimes a post will be moved there. Some seem innocuous, but many posts there are inflammatory. I personally think that such posts should be deleted, not moved.

I'm not going to diss the Attic. However, when it was created and divided from Chit-Chat, something was lost. All of the great humor, much of it questionable, which would have gone to the Attic, but all of it has disappeared. Chit-Chat used to be a funny place, aside from cartoons. There used to be some jokes here that would either have you rolling on the floor or spitting out your coffee.

Critical thinking, that is, the compilation and verification of facts and assembling them into an undeniable truth takes time and effort. Blindly accepting someone's statement as fact, takes none. There are a lot of lazy people out there.
