I put 2100-2400 miles on bicycles every year between late April and early December. Almost all are on roads, the shoulder if there is one. I try to be careful and conscious of objects around me. Whenever I see a ghost bike, it’s a reminder that diligence is forever a key to survival. Each year at the start of the riding season, I have to remember to remind myself to not do unsafe things and remember what I’m doing. A lot of accidents are not just the result of one rider/driver not paying attention or being irresponsible. A lot are simply one or two operators being in the right place at the wrong time. We have to look out for each other. Rest in peace, Jason.
