I have a motion sensor light on my porch that is stuck in the 'on' position. How do I put it into the motion senor mode? I've switched it off for a few hours, then back on - it's on all the time. I've switched it off and immediately back on - still always on. Maybe it's time for a new one? Thanks in advance. And of course I don't know the brand & have no idea where the original instructions are hiding.

Try cleaning the ambient light sensor!! if that don't do it, the light is probably toast!!

I think I would get a new light with the sensor built in and get rid of that extra wire.

A few years ago I spotted a motion sensor bulb at Lowes so I tried it. No additional sensor anywhere, it's in the bulb. You just install it in the light and it turns on when you walk into the room. I wouldn't be surprised if there were something similar for a light sensor rather than motion sensor but I haven't looked for one. (It was a LED so power conserving).

Instead of posting your problem, you should have checked with the company that made the motion sensor light. They have the expertise.

I thought if I could see what kind of a set up you have I could help but I'm no help. I had the same thing happen and I just bought a different motion detector light. I went to the store (NOT WALMART) and they start at about fifteen dollars and go up to a whole lot more than I would pay. I got one for about thirty dollars similar to what I've seen advertised and it works great. Sorry I couldn't be more help but it looks like a lot of people have had the same problem and have lots of suggestions. Good luck on it
