The manual for the OPs phone is 215 pages long. While not arguing against reading product manuals, there is nothing wrong with asking a simple question for a simple answer here. People do it all of the time and appreciate the time given to them by others.
How about using the search? That is way too hard for some folks here.

I mentioned that in my first post and gave a solution.
Then I gave the link to the manual.
All this is helping as well as pushing strongly toward learning how to use the modern technology (i.e. WEB resources to find the 'missing' manual) to find the correct answer. I even provided the link to it.
By the way, it is a search for 'tethering' i.e. using a USB cable.

I would much prefer a real book. Also, learn some people skills. Not everyone has your computer skills.
I tried this. The third step says to tap on the notification from the Android System. I can't find it, and when I swipe down from the top of the screen, it does not look like anything depicted in these instructions.
select the photo on your phone then click "share" then send to your computer by email. I have tranfered 100s of photos this way

That's what I do. If I try to download photos I end up getting 2,000 from my phone!

Perhaps not the best approach when you get back from Europe with 2,500 photos.

Another issue can be the cable. If it is only a charging cable it won't find the folders. Ensure you have a full cable with all the wires connected.

That's probably the problem.

Yup!
I painted white dots on the connectors of my "charge only" cables so I know. Charge only cables do not have the two DATA wires in them, but they look like regular cables.

I didn't even think of that. I never throw cables away that might have a use. I recently found out that I have one Samsung cable that won't transfer data. I have several others that will. Do you have another cable?

I have the cable that came with my camera to download photos from it to the computer. that should do the trick. In the meanwhile, I used the e-mail method. Slow, because it is one photo at a time, but it worked.
