Here in Virginia the DMV every so many years sends out a letter which asks you to renew your old driver's license and have a new picture taken.
This is because your picture is old and they want you to renew your license to put a fresh picture on it.
I went to my local DMV and after they took the picture I asked them to look up my drivers record. After doing so, the young lady looked it up her mouth fell open. I had gotten my License in 1955 and had no record of any violations on it. Call me a safe driver very lucky and careful. I am now 85 years old ,but about 5 years ago I started letting my wife drive all the time. I felt that she being 8 years younger that me it would be safer.

Hmmm! While they are cruising? I thought that the old-fashioned way (pre- speed gun) of catching speeders was that the cop car had to mimic/follow in his car the speed of the suspected speeder.

Not anymore they can use radar while cruising coming or going.

They can also ticket you based on a stationary radar gun radioing them your speed or an aircraft doing the same.
Or of course reckless, dangerous, erratic driving or obstruction of the flow of traffic without any accurate measure of speed.

From what I understand, the radar gun adds or subtracts the speed of the cop car.
