My first-ever bird photos. Still room for improvement.
Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, Florida. Just up the road from my home.
Constructive criticism welcome.
Nice work, Jack. You live in an excellent area for birds. Just a few comments - In #1 your exposure did not blow out the whites. In #2, the subdued expose of the reflection resulted in a more detailed capture. In #3 some of the back feathers are a bit over exposed. This is a common problem with white birds. If possible when shooting white birds, be aware of this issue.
Thanks. I quickly learned that one needs to underexpose images of white birds in bright sunshine by at least one stop, sometimes two, to avoid blowing out the white feathers, and then post process accordingly.

I think it’s the contrast slider that can reduce the brightness (#3) and seemingly add detail to those blown out bright areas.
Nicely shot set. The Snowy Egret is excellent in all respects. Using the Spot Meter on your camera makes it easier get correct exposure on white birds against a dark background. Details can often be recovered from under exposed areas but over exposed whites are gone forever.

Well, this is sure a superb first-ever group of bird shots - and I hope to see many more to come
Very good beginning on birds, and the reflection on #2 I just love. When doing wading birds, I always try for the best reflection I can get.
Keep them coming. You are off to a great start.
First ever?!?!?!.... Well, you're doing quite well.... Everyone's covered the criticism.... Just take note and keep shooting and tweaking....
Do tell your camera settings... Which mode are you shooting?
Very nice start! I would hate to have to compare my first bird photos to yours! And, if you plan to continue to be a bird photographer, it would be hard to pick a better venue than Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge! I know the place well and have some great photos from there.
If you want to spread your wings a bit after chasing birds for awhile at Merritt Island, you might want to take a look at Lake Apopka. Very different from Merritt Island but it's also a Great Wildlife Drive! Because it's fresh water instead of brackish water like Merritt Island, you will encounter different critters! It's a bit of a drive, but worth it!

Very nice shots Jack, you are in a great birding area. I like what I see, the only image where the whites are a little blown out is in the 2nd photo, in the tail feathers. Enjoy Merritt Island. Lots of great birding areas if you venture further afield.
