Took a train to Davos in Switzerland in 1998. Same there, look down and saw railroad ties passing by.

On another subject , when i was young in europe , steam trains still , in the late 50 / 60 s , when you went to the toilet and open the lid , you would see the rail road ties going by . So guess where that was going . A sign said not to use the toilet in a station .

Been there, never walked
between the rails again.

This brings to mind Dubai, which built one of the world's tallest building but did not have a waste water treatment system in the city. To handle the problem, trucks would line up and collect the sewage to be taken outside of the city and handled somehow there.

All sea going vessels are prohibited from flushing holding tanks untill they are in international waters. That is 12 nautical miles from shore. Least wise those where the rules when I was sailing the seven seas

There was a song about that. Or maybe just a ditty:

“Passengers will please refrain,
From using toilets,
While the train,
Is standing in the Station,
I love you”

(Not sure what the last line is reference to . . .).

I remember this. In the UK in the 1960’s, looking at the rr ties wiz (pun intended) by through the toilet hole. Just don’t use the WC while in the station.
