You’re right - MPB has B+W CPLs for $30-36 for 77mm (and this is a small 52mm), but they are used. In fairness though, I’ve bought about 15 used B+W filters from KEH and MPB (one for every lens) and every one has looked new. I’d go for it…

Yes, that link is for a used filter which is what I believe is what is actually being offered to the OP on eBay. Even though the item for sale on eBay is marked as new, I believe that is because they are unopened and unused filters. However, if the seller is not a primary distributor or dealer but is reselling an item that has been purchased, I believe they need to be marked as used even when they are sold in unopened like new packaging. I have contacted the seller for an update.

Several years ago, I had a negative opinion of eBay, and I avoided eBay like the plague. My partner had/has for some time purchased many items through eBay - so I decided to try eBay. Now, when I'm searching for something to buy, I'll often times check Ebay for availability & price. If there are any issues with a completed purchase, usually the merchant will return or replace the item. If they don't eBay will correct the problem.

Not too long ago I purchased a book on wildflowers. According to the purchase restrictions "all sales final". The book which was supposed to be "like new" was not like new. This book has stains on many of the pages. I contacted eBay with attached photos of the book and Ebay refunded my purchase. Ebay didn't even want the book returned. I did buy from a different merchant, and they sent me a book that was "like new" - no problem eBay will back a refund.

Just in the last month I purchased longer cables for my SSD drives. When I received this order, I found some of the cables with crushed & bent metal connectors. I contacted the seller with photos of the item. He had stated no returns, but he made good on the purchase, and I received good replacements.

I've both bought and sold items on Ebay, and have no complaints. Granted, you have to read the description of what's being sold very carefully and keep in mind that most items being sold on Ebay are used. Note that I've never bought anything that didn't include several photos showing the condition of the item. And when I've sold items, I've tried to include as many photos as needed to show exactly what I was selling, because I expect anyone looking at my stuff to feel the same way.

Yeah SVP, I think your absolutely correct. They must be counterfeit. I was hoping he or she bought out a photo store and was selling at incredible discounted prices. Wrong. I messaged the seller two days ago asking if he or she would guarantee authenticity if I brought it to my local camera store and had them appraise the filter. Needless to say, as of now, I have not heard from them.
So the old adage "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". Proves correct again.
