was it ever worth buying that is the question.

Watch the nasty replies, I get from that! 😂😂

I use one. Its a very legit question.

Acoarst I bought it nicely depreciated so that question doesnt seriously nag at me :-)

Some users might really value the dedicated external controls for drive and focus modes. They are nothing to me but they do look nice. What does matter to me is high ISO and for that the older sensor in the a7III is better.

So, howz that for nasty replies ?

I am wondering if this camera is still worth buying since Sony had already introduced so many new cameras. Any information from the hard-core Sony members will be greatly appreciated. I am thinking of moving to the Sony eco system since the lens offerings is unlimited. I used to shoot with Canon 5Div BIF, but I know the RF lenses are extremely expensive. I am aware of the R cameras, but the main issue is the lenses is very limited. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all that share their knowledge.

I'm a long term Sony user, and maybe what I'm saying was already mentioned...

1) While systems is always a PITA and an expensive move, if you have the available funds for that, it is always fun to have new toys.

2) The A9 is was and still is an amazing camera for sports with ridiculously fast FPS and all imaginable bells and whistles.

3) It is significantly cheaper than the latest and greatest. I just checked and costs exactly one half of the A9 III at Amazon. Yes, It doesn't have global shutter, but that will cost you $ 3k more.

So for the question "is it still worth buying?", short answer is: look at your ride. If you drive a Lambo... then no, go for the A9III, else the A9 is an excellent camera for a reasonable cost.

Many professional and amateur wildlife and bird photographers have moved to OM Systems. The OM-1 Mark 2 is very good and the lens selection for long lens is outstanding. Pre-capture, up to 60 fps with AF and exposure for each frame blackout free.

Thank you! I thought it was a legit question but I expected the knee-jerk reaction would be to attack. Maybe I misjudged.

He mentioned already owning Canon's final and finest 5D-series DSLR, so EF lenses are assumed also. No one trying to be helpful would see this situation and then suggest giving up on this pro-grade equipment to chase better results with another brand. Being helpful is to be helpful, not foolishly encouraging a failed strategy.

Just what we would expect from you. He asked for hard core Sony users to respond, not Canon fanboys pushing Canon, sorry . This wasn't meant for you.

Cheers and best to you.

Funny to ponder that wildlife and bird pix now constitutes a profession. If true it would seem to support the notion of how automation and robotics would eliminate some jobs but OTOH
could also create new ones never previously imagined. You just cant make this schidt up !

I agree, I have owned an A9 and loved it , and I do now own an A9III, and I still think the A9/A9II are excellent choices and can be had for excellent prices. Go for it and be happy.

Here A9, Sony 135mm f1.8 GM lens, a veteran skateboarder still has the stuff, on Venice Beach, California, USA. 135mm, ISO 400, f1.8, 1/2000 sec. handheld, hazy late afternoon light.

Click on download to see better image quality.

Cheers and best to you.
