If you compose carefully, you can do landscapes with an UWA lens. You need something of interest in the foreground to anchor the shot and then something interesting behind it like an amazing sunrise or sunset. I really like it in the Badlands and
Yellowstone. Sadly, I see many people use them to just get as much in the frame as possible, making everything look distant and small.

For example, this was taken with a Loawa 9mm on a Sony A6600. It is something that these ultra wide angle lenses are good at capturing.

Right. You can get a good landscape with a wide angle but it needs a good foreground element. Even the grand vistas Ansel Adams is know for were mostly shot in the “normal” wide angle to normal range, equivalent to between anout 35-60mm on full frame.

For me, such fisheye lenses are great for underwater photography. My favorite recent lens is the Lumix 8 mm, which is super sharp but also gathers light so beautifully underwater. This allowed an educational photo of coral dominating over 45 feet of vertical underwater depth. In the film days, a Nikon 15 mm lens allowed you to take closeups in 50 feet of water with no flash.

I have that one. I think you’ll really like it! When I got it, there were way better reviews for it than the Canon equivalent.

I have the Tokina 11-20 2.8 I use on my D7000 for Astrophotography mainly but also landscape & car photography. I love it. I think I paid $179 used in great condition. It can be corrected in LR or PS. If yours is anyway decent for $119 you can’t go wrong.
