What months recommended. April May shoulder months are about 25% cheaper, wetter, greener than the June--July--August time frame in Botswana and other locations.
This will be one and done, (78 years old). Considering Pangolin Photo Safari to visit Chobe NP, Okavango delta and Kalahari.
Any suggestions as to timing, contacts, places appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
Check with your tour company. There may be a reason other than demand why certain times are cheaper. May is a good time to catch the migration in Tanzania.
May is Fall in Botswana, although it is a very warm fall. The fall and winter are dry which is key when driving on dirt roads. Check with the operator, but May would seem like a good time to go.

I have not been to Botswana. I would check the local rainfall patterns. Here in Kenya where I live you get discounts during rainy season. Dirt roads in Africa easily get impassable when it rains hard. So I would check for that.
I was in Chobe National Park last week of May, 2023. The roads were very muddy in places. The river was high which limited viewing of wildlife on the shore. My host decided next year he would go 2 weeks later in hopes of the river banks being more accessable. Temps were fine, not over 80 degrees. And I saw tons of wildlife on land and water.
thanks,
I will pick June or July. The checking i had done was that May was a shoulder season for a reason, and you confirmed.
