The last one is an Iconic Texas scene. What a great series.

i use to live in Texas for 11 years and 3 1/2 of those years were spent in San Antonio. Every April my wife and I would go to the hill county to photograph the bluebonnets. This one old farmhouse we use to go to belonged to Mrs Lotta Roberts who raised cattle. One year we talked and I mentioned how beautiful her ranch was, which was just abput totally covered with bluebonnets, and she looked at me and said that it was the worse thing that has ever happened. She told me, That Old Lady Bird Johnson had men flying airplanes all over the ranch lands in Texas throwing flower seeds just so the state could have lots of bluebonnets. What Lady Bird didn't tell them was that by sowing all the flower seeds it actually choked out the grass from growing and of course the cattle don't graze on flowers but require grass to survive. The bluebonnets are a beautiful site during the early spring but i can see why the ranchers may view then differently. .

I moved to Texas back in 1980 (and spent 41 of those years in San Antonio) ... first time I've heard that Lady Bird had a mini air force seed-bomb Texas ranch land. The Texas Bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis) is native to the southwestern U.S., only blooms for three to four weeks in the Spring and does NOT choke out other plant life. Nor do carpets of Bluebonnets cover THAT much grazing land. The former First Lady was involved in the conservation of native Texas flora and did have a program cultivating wildflowers along Texas Highways.
