This is a nice one, Linda, and I certainly would also keep the pole. It gives a sense of place to the image.
We used to talk about sense of place when teaching/discussing literature, and I believe the term has relevance to photography as well.

As for the telephone pole. It’s the interaction between man and nature. There isn’t always a need to wipe out parts of a photograph, to get a final results.

I'm one of those who hates telephone poles. But I'll admit this one adds balance. If it were removed, it would leave quite a large blank spot. I did do some playing. I really like that little dark spot on the right hand side. But if the image were cropped a bit, the balance might be better. I don't know that if that would make it better, likely only different.

Re cropping, similar to when I include a lot of sky, I'm fond of a wide aspect here because of the long distant views we have in this valley and the spaciousness suggested. I see your point, though, and very much appreciate your input.
