Those prices get you a year of updates. After that it’ll still work but you won’t get updates.
Correct. Topaz's perpetual license pricing model is not very different than that of perpetual licensed software from many other software publishers. I think many posters on this thread were under the impression the costs mentioned by the OP were annual subscription costs rather than upgrades to the latest perpetual licensed version.

If the newest versions don't have enough new features to make upgrading cost effective users can stay with the current version they already own. Well said, and I totally agree. And as I posted earlier, I purchased 2 1/2 years ago and was still able today to download an upgraded version at no additional cost. Topaz specializes in specific functions and is one of the best, if not the best, at what it does. People complaining about the cost of expensive to develop and enhance complex software shouldn't be using it. I get the value (my measurement of value to me), therefore I will pay the reasonable going rate every few years for it when I deem it appropriate or necessary to upgrade.

Seems simple enough to understand

Yeah, I've been reading about this. I have Sharpen AI, and if I understand right, when my computer upgrades leave the current version behind I may have to buy something to replace it. But I can't expect an app to upgrade for free forever.

You can still download whatever version you have paid for to any new PC you may have in the future. I agree by the time any windows operating system is incompatible with Windows 10 or 11 software, the software would be sorely antiquated anyway.
I don't mind and I do pay for upgrades, but Topaz went from a group upgrade of all software to that same approximate price now charged for each single program.
I'm sooooo confused! I initially got Photo at no cost because I had DeNoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel. It seemed it was updated every 2 to 3 weeks. I was pleased with the results I got with it. When my free update term was about to end I opted to pay for a year of updates for $99. That was Sept, 2022 and again in 2023. The only program that was getting updates was Photo AI (every few weeks). A few days ago when they announced Gigapixel 7.0 update was available I downloaded the update for free (part of my Photo AI update package). I'm expecting I will renew my update Sept 2024 for another year. My perception is Photo AI capabilities has been improving frequently and is worth the investment of $99/year. About one cup of Starbucks a month. I don't visit Starbucks. I'd rather treat myself to Kona coffee ground and brewed at home because it's better, cheaper and I deserve it.
I think that they are going to add all the upgrades to PhotoAI.
Sometimes I get better results from Sharpen or DeNoise than from PhotoAI.

Not sure what you mean by DeNoise and Sharpen “no longer supported.” Both are current programs offered by Topaz. Yes, you need to subscribe to receive updates after the first year. I chose not to get updates for Sharpen and Gigapixel because IMHO Photo does an adequite job, but I use DeNoise all the time. The pricing structure does seem to be pushing customers toward Photo AI.
I spoke to Topaz support and they confirmed they are no longer updating and to NOT renew sharpen or DeNoise.
