I would be VERY careful about doing business with them.

I use Surf Shark with no problems and it's cheap. It has no limit on the amount of devices used. It also has a lot of features.

Are they in the US? Nord is in Panama and they are based in Lithuania I think. They use AI when you sign up and when you ask a question it's not programmed to answer much. I refuse to do business with a computer.

I am please with Mozilla VPN, the same nonprofit that makes Firefox and other apps. They are highly rated on various sites. I would add I no longer run Windows; I am on a Linux machine, but it is a cross-platform app.

I have a couple friends who use NORD and haven’t complained. I personally have no experience with but I have read this review.

I've been using NordVPN for several years, and have been pleased with their service.

NordVPN is based and operates under the jurisdiction of Panama. There is no mandatory data retention law in Panama, so they do not need to store logs which is perfect for a VPN provider. Contrary to foathog's opinion, that is a GOOD thing! That was probably the biggest reason I switched to NORD.

I had occasion to go to China a couple times in the recent past, and successfully used NORD to get around the Chinese firewall

I don't know why you bothered to ask for input? Looks to me like you already had your mind made up?

And just in case you aren't going to read the article, here's the salient point:

"Bottom Line

"One of the better-known VPNs, NordVPN's Panama headquarters makes it a top choice for the privacy-concerned, as Panama isn't a member of any international surveillance alliances. On top of that, NordVPN has some of the best security and privacy features, including Double VPN and Onion Over VPN."

The entire point of a VPN is, to the greatest extent possible, to be outwith the reach of government, your ISP & other snoopers, protecting & shielding the user from prying eyes. For this purpose, Panama is close to ideal. Someplace within the US or it's territories or allies would be the antithesis of that.

Why do you say that? Nord is a very respectable name in the VPN community. If you're going to issue cautions, you need to back it up with some facts.

What? Why?

Although NordVPN is already one of the best-known VPNs, its features have increased dramatically over the past few years. That's important, as the service is not cheap. In addition to protecting your web traffic, NordVPN scans downloaded files for malware and watches for malicious sites. It offers a password manager and encrypted file storage. A new and unique feature called Meshnet lets you route your web traffic securely through your own trusted devices and transfer files. For all it offers, NordVPN is an Editors' Choice award winner.

VPNs require a lot of trust because all your web traffic is routed through their infrastructure. For each review, we look over the company's privacy policy and discuss security and privacy issues directly with the company. We didn't find anything worrisome here, although NordVPN's policy is less reader-friendly than TunnelBear VPN's.

In our discussions with the company and in its privacy policy, NordVPN makes clear it does not log browsing history, traffic, or IP addresses. That's as it should be.

I have used it for a few years and am very pleased with them. They also have a app NordPass which stores passwords which I like very much.
