Coolest moth ever!

Great find and ever so cool...! They evolved the long trailing wings because they create turbulence which confuses the echo-location of bats that try to feed on them. The bats often end up with a bit of tail in their mouth instead of a meaty moth and the moth may live another day as it seeks a mate.

Very cool indeed. I have never seen anything like that either. Where was it? I am thinking not Colorado.

This is definitely a Saturniid moth.
The exact species I am not sure but my EWAG is Copiopteryx semiramis.
