Depends on symptoms...

e.g. Can't reach (contact) -> your ISP or the backbone supporting your area.

("broke" doesn't really help much.)

Turns out I was logged out. Signed back in and all is well!
Sort of strange, as I don't remember logging out...

Yahoo email has login issues on my laptop. It wants to send a code to my phone that I don't own. However no problem on my Ipad.

No--have had it for years and never a problem. Maybe it is your internet provider rather than Yahoo.

It happens. Happy that you solved the problem.

Many sites automatically log you out when you close the tab or browser.
Some don't, like UHH.

I Never Log Out, but when I haven't been on my desktop while on travel for a few weeks, something mysteriously happens and it forces me to log back on when I return home.
Keep in mind that I still use Yahoo daily while I am on travel.
I write down and encrypt my Login/Password and use it to log on, but Yahoo still insists that I update/change both for the desktop upon returning.
This happens a couple of times a year. My Yahoo account has been hijacked twice and a few days of mischief ensued. I was very lucky as the hijacker became bored and I was able to recover my account by changing my login/password.
With all of the data breaches going on I am careful not to post ANYTHING of a personally $ensitive nature.
Yahoo was the first email that signed up for going back to the early 80's. Gmail is now my backup account.
Best Wishes,

Sounds like in your account security settings the two-step verification is set to "on" for the laptop device.

Sounds like the hijacking was easy for someone looking to cause trouble.....the doors and windows were wide open if the account is never logged out when it's unattended. They could find a way in without a lot of struggle.

For your account security and Yahoo trying to protect their own system, there is most likely a default logout of accounts that are logged on at a device without any activity from that device in a set number of hours. Yahoo's attempt to assure an authorized person is using that device again for the Yahoo account, is to require a re-login and password reset.

I guess that taking advantage of a "Computer Noob" like me didn't offer too much fun for the offender.
Thanks for the insight, I will try to be less frustrated the next time it happens as Yahoo is only trying to provide a little adult supervision, grin.

Occasionally I have some problems but just try again and I get into my account. I'm having a problem with it sending things to Spam that are not Spam. And when I mark them Not Spam, it doesn't change anything. Now I have to scan Spam everyday to make sure I get regular emails from friends. It also stopped sending things to my Inbox and now sends them to All Mail instead. Don't know how to fix it and don't want to change email address that I've hade for 25 years.
