Looking for some expert advice
So, I have a Sony A6000 and when I look at a spot it shows the controls around the screen as such:

However, if I were to try to adjust the settings the controls around the screen vanish as such:

The controls reappear in a second or so.
Yes, I did ‘RT’F’M’ to no avail!! The local camera store looked at me as if I had horns on my head.
If any of the learned members can help/advise I will be ever so grateful!!

Long shot but easy, clean the eyepiece sensor.

Your posted pix show that the controls in use go to a bright color, while the peripheral info goes away. That seems normal. I checked a 6500 at thaz its normal behavior.

My 6000s have been replaced by 6500s, so I cannot run an exact model 6000 test.

Thank you! Will try. I've had this camera for a number of years and never had this happen.

I’m no expert, but do have the A6000. The large button with the control wheel on the right side of the LCD screen is labeled DISP at the 12 o’clock position and it gives you several options for what appears on the screen display. Experiment with that—it may give you some answers.

Tap the display button several times to cycle through the display options available.

Thank you one all. The local camera store in the Dallas area has it now. They'll do a deep cleaning and fix the issue.

That looks like normal behavior to me. I no longer have the a6000, but the the a6700 works the same way, as does the a7iii.

I wondered if it might not be normal.

I really liked the A6000... I bought it, almost, by accident and was thrilled with this tiny 'perfect' camera. I needed a quick replacement camera. I didn't know at the time that it was part of a whole A6nnn series. I eventually settled in on the A6400. I'd never encountered so many features in such a tiny camera, and I did my work correctly, the photos were great. When I bought it, it was a 'perfect' camera.

The a6XXX line is is a reeeeeally capable very compact powerhouse. Starting with a 6000 I later realized I wanted silent mode, IBIS and the newer bigger battery. Thaz how the 6600 replaced my 6000 and the a7III replaced my a7II (just for silent mode and bigger battery).

The a6XXX line doesnt get much chatter here cuz it never appears new or innovative. Long term perfection lives in the shadow of "new & improved !". But if youre an a6XXX user then you are always left wondering what everyone else is getting so excited about.

(There are enuf OIS lenses for certain users whose a6XXX version has no IBIS.)

Some lenses lack OIS.

The A6XXX line is great. I have the 6000, and am thinking of going to the 6500, because of the IBS.

If you go with the 6600 you also get the new bigger battery. But if youve got no complaints with the W50 battery the 6500 is pretty much the same. BTW the 6500 brings not only IBIS but also Silent mode. Getting BOTH was what justified the 6500 for me.
