Try the secondary market...
Since yours is already a used camera, you can try Camera Shops, Amazon,
Pawn Shops, etc. TAKE YOUR BATTERY WITH YOU!

My D7200 and I were caught in a rainstorm yesterday and now it refuses to turn on. Battery's good and I get a quick flash on the led screen when turned on and then nothing. I love the camera but am unsure of the economic utility of sending it to Nikon for a looksee. Having never sent a camera in for repair I have no idea what Nikon charges to gain an estimate. Soliciting thoughts as to how I should proceed.

Bob, i have a person who does all my repairs if you're interested?

Call your local astronomy club and find someone with a vacuum chamber.

You probably mean have one for sale.

Might do better in the "Buy/Sell Section"

A quick call to Nikon will answer all your questions. Personally, I wouldn't spend much to fix old technology. Best of luck.

Snowfall moisture eventually shorted out(electrical failure) my F5 years ago. When I returned to a warm dry room, I removed film, opened the camera, removed batteries and 36 hrs later it was back to normal. Try it.

Verrrry bad idea :-(

Desicant is passive, not an active drying agent. DO NOT BAG IT !!!

I don't think you know how moisture and transfer of same works

Similar rain storm situation; no point in repeating dry out stories.
End result was to replace the gear. BUT...
I already had multiple other camera bodies; I now use the D7100 for personal excursions only. It is hard to turn on and off, and occasionally does not respond to settings - but it has worked as a secondary camera for two years.
Zoom lens went from stiff to loose. Pictures OK, so I use it in unfriendly city locations. or rain - not joking. I bought a new used lens for my more serious shooting.
My philosophy is to spend money on used back up gear, and not cry about wiping out gear in use.

I would leave it all open with no lens and battery door open with a hair dryer on low blowing on it. Needs to dry real good.

Wouldn't that get a lot of dust sticking to the moist surfaces?

Pawn shops (even via e-Bay can be sketchy. Most little about cameras and some have a "no-return" policy. 2 years ago, I bought a Nikon D7100 as a back up body. Would NOT autofocus with any lens. Even though the pawn shop had a no-return policy, they refunded because it didn't work. In person would be fine, as you can test it there plus get a better idea of the actual condition.

Nikon does NOT charge for estimates... IF you don't have it fixed after sending it in, you pay the postage to send and get it back...
The only issue is IF this is a GREY market camera, then NIKON will NOT service it. There are still some 3rd party repair shops who will fix anything IF they have surplus parts... I have had several repairs from NIKON, reasonable and worth it.

I had an issue with my D5500 I had to constantly set the date and time, then it started taking longer and longer to start up. I sent it in to the Nikon service center in New York, cost $250 to repair it. It now works flawlessly! I use it for my street photography since it is light and easy to handle. It takes great shots, I also have D7500 that I use for more serious things like portraits, but my little 5500 is a little beast!

All because of the Nikon service it received.
