Some time ago I posted two photos here, one of a general view of the harbour and the second, using the zoom, a shot of the tower of the cathedral. Some people were very complimentary, not about me, the non-photographer, but about the camera I was using.

On this occasion I’m repeating the exercise, but still hand holding a different camera.

I wonder what people think about it this time?

If taken from the same spot, that is one heck of a zoom.

I didn't see or don't remember your first post. If this is intended as a demonstration of a hand held telephoto shot it would have been better if you hadn't cut the top of the tower off.

That was taken with a Canon SX-740HS that zooms out to 960mm eq. Got a lotta reach there. Not a bad image, either. Pretty good detail.

Focusing in bright sunlight was almost impossible since I couldn’t see the screen and I just pointed the camera in the general direction and took the shot.

I took several shots so I’ll look tomorrow to see if there’s one without the top cut off. I’ll also see if I can find the original one so you can compare the two.

AS a photographer, you did a super job of framing and leading the eye in that first shot. The camera helps, but it is you who makes the shot one to remember 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Many, many thanks for your kind comment. I still consider myself a non-photographer. I know absolutely nothing about photography. I am a strictly Point and Shoot guy who every now and again, by sheer luck, manages to take a photo that is above my average

Good demonstration about you and your cameras capabilities, but I'm more interested in the sailing ship.

I'm sorry, I couldn't find the other post from time back. I'm including here another from those I took yesterday, with the tower intact! It isn't as detailed as the one I posted yesterday but I explained why I had such difficulty in focusing

Nicely done, I still use my old SX50, great reach.
