Hello all, going to Italy mid- March for 2 weeks. What do you think would be the best lenses to take with me. Here are my current lenses; EF 16-35 F2.8, EF 70-200 F4, EF 50 F1.8, RF 100-400 F 5.6-8, and RF 24-105 F4-7.1. Will be mainly shooting the sites of Italy. Thanks in advance.

All too heavy and bulky for Italy. I only took one camera that had a 24-720mm Zeiss lens attached, that's right, a 24-720 mm lens attached to a body that fit into my shit pocket. Except I had a belt pouch that I put it in.
And yes, it is not a full frame sensor, but I can print 20X30 sharp prints from it. Sony, the one and only. HX99.
TRAVEL RIGHT, TRAVEL LIGHT.
The image below was taken at 720mm from a moving boat, I could not have gotten this shot with any of the lenses you have proposed. The best way to get travel shots of a once in a life time trip is to have all the lenses on one body on you at all times, you never know when that great shot will be in front of you and you do not to be changing lenses to get the shot. Trust me, every traveler should take this camera with them at all times. DON"T BE SORRY LATER.

what sites? Are you going to the major cities, Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Pisa, Bologna or the scenic Dolomites and great hiking in the Northeast.
Is the camera DX or FX

I carry a D500 (DX) with a 18 to 300 zoom and a 10 to 24 mm zoom when in Europe; thus my wide angle shots are not as wide as I would like some times.

Using lightroom to look at my last trip with 2100 photos to cities, towns or out on hikes over half were of my shots were at 30mm or less. 200 were at 300 mm when I want to get real close or detail from 30 feet or more. The 18 to 300 will focus at about 18".

I would take the 16-35 F2.8 and a longer lens that you get the best results.

My experience from five trips to Italy is to take your 16-35 f2.8 & the 24-105. Your cell phone can supplement indoors when needed or just take a Sony Rx100 VII or similar and be happy with the convenience.

I've been there a few times. I shoot with a Canon 5d MKII and take my EF 24-70mm f2.8L, EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS and a EF 100-400 f4.5-5.6mmL IS. I also shoot the sites and probably find the 70-200 lens on my camera the most. Love the architecture in all of Europe. Have a great trip.

I went to Italy in September and used the 24-105 almost exclusively. I was pleased with the results.

We were in Rome on October 25, 2022 for one day before we flew out to go home. The place was the crowdest we have ever seen since our first trip in 1973 and the last in April 2016. The lines to the Pantheon and colosseum were 100s of feet long; I say this so you can get as many timed tickets to visit it venues as you can. Travel groups fill the narrow streets in all the major cities.

Changing lenses is never an issue for me. I also take a flash and tripod. All the gear except the tripod goes in a messenger style custom made camera bag that hangs from my right shoulder and rests on my left hip. I use the tripod at night and selfies with my wife and for raging rivers which you will not see on your trip.

If you have a travel companion be sure to get shots of both of you. The camera you are taking should give you shots that will enlarge and print well so you can look at the great time you had in March 2024 hanging on the wall for years to come.
Have fun.

I shoot with a Nikon. When I went to Italy with a full frame camera, I took a 24-85mm and a fast but small prime, like a 35mm or a 50mm, for low light situations. For the lens on the camera most of the time, wider is usually better. 24mm is a lot better than 28mm.

I went to Florence, Venice, and Rome. I took an Olympus Pro 12-100 F4.0 and a Panasonic 100-400 F 5.6. I used the Panasonic a total of 4 times in 10 days. The rest were with the Olympus, and while it was satisfactory I do wish I had taken something in the range of 12-35 and around F2.8. Would have used it more than the Panasonic as many opportunities are indoors with limited light and no flash allowed or in narrow outdoor spaces. I would leave the Panasonic at home if going again. Hope this helps.
