Hello all, going to Italy mid- March for 2 weeks. What do you think would be the best lenses to take with me. Here are my current lenses; EF 16-35 F2.8, EF 70-200 F4, EF 50 F1.8, RF 100-400 F 5.6-8, and RF 24-105 F4-7.1. Will be mainly shooting the sites of Italy. Thanks in advance.

Personally? I'd travel light and take the 24-105, maybe the 50 from your list (if you think you may have some low light conditions).
But only you know what you like to shoot.

I only took an 18-200 and a 50 to Iceland, plus my phone.

The 24-105 and the 100-400. You could also take the 50 for low light shooting. With those two or three lenses, you should have a very nice trip.

Hi Tonyi , My wife and I just returned from a 2week best of Italy tour. Absolutely fantastic trip (trafalgar tours). We took her Apple 14 pro phone for her. I brought a Sony A7riii with a leica 18 f 2.8 ,Sony 20-70 f 4 and a Sony fe 70-200 f4. She got about 3000 photos, about 2600 for me.

If it were I, my first choice would be the 24-105. If I could squeeze another in it would be either the 50 or the 16-35. Have a good trip.

You are very welcome. The Zeiss batis 18 was handy for inside the Vatican , cathedrals and other historic buildings. The 20-70 was great for the tight streets , fountains etc… Many folks said don’t bother to take the 70-200. I’m so glad we did. It was indispensable for many outdoor shots. Venice , Capri , St Marks etc…. Wishing you and yours a great trip !!!!! PS. Changing lenses was not an issue at all. Just plan ahead and do it quickly. Never held up the tour or the Mrs at all.

Mike, you think my 70-200 F4 would be better than the 100-400 F 5.6-8?

So, who get credit for the very beautiful pictures, you or your wife?

We were completely happy/satisfied with the Sony fe 70-200 f4. It filled in the long requirements perfectly for us. Did not want or need anything longer or heavier. The interesting and fantastic outdoor photo opportunities were not so far away and the buildings, cathedrals, churches and castles are very large buildings. 70-200 was a great fit !

It depends on what you are most interested in capturing in Europe. I took a 16-35mm 2.8 and a 24-105mm f4 to shoot church interiors and everything else, respectively. I also took a 50mm 1.4 but never really used it. This is Ste.-Cecile cathedral in Albi, France at 16mm. I never missed a longer lens.
