After months of a near absence of interesting water birds, yesterday's scouting netted some fulfilling fodder for the camera. In particular, the GBH which seems habituated to humans and essentially ignored the proximity. The pond is part of a large regional park called Rancho San Rafael.
Hooded Megansers and Ringnecks also are infrequent visitors to Peavine pond.
The wood ducks were spotted at Idlewild park which skirts the Truckee river and are rarely seen. Difficult to see amongst the Mallards and Canada geese, one might add!
And, the final image is from Teglia's Paradise park which houses 4 large ponds and attracts lots of water fowl. The snow goose, however is an uncommon visitor.
