Just stepped out of the truck when I spied these guys headed straight at me. Grabbed the Z9 with 600pF attached and started shooting. Slewed the camera as I tracked the geese flying by, for about 270 degrees. Hit the buffer twice! Very close by as they flew to the fresh water flowing out of Big Mission Creek.

The crappy, gloomy, dark weather can be noted in the first shot-rain and fog-40F lite breeze, 12:05 PM PST. One may see the rain drops in the water around the geese.

Cackling geese? Note the rounder head, the off-white chin patch, the almost all white tail... and they are smaller. No squawk while flying either. For those who care-1/2500, f6.3, no EC or added/changed backgrounds. Compositional crops only. This 600pF renders some beautiful backgrounds...

Download and enjoy!

I like the set, most of all the one that is doing the surf landings.

Very nice set, Tim. I was going to dispute your ID, but without being able to compare side by side, I'm going to take your word for it. I wonder if Cackling Geese taste any different from Canada Geese?

Thanx! They make a big thing out of their slow landings.
