"Since you brought up politics, it is interesting that MLK was assassinated when Hoover's boss was a president who fought against the first two modern era civil rights laws ('57, '60) that were sponsored and signed into law by the same party that freed the slaves."

Sorry, you used MLK as a device to blame it all on the Libs once again. Be honest MAGA, we all saw it, we're not blind here.

Did you ever stop and consider the problem is systemic? and not Democrat vs Republican? Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the US.

So it appears it a lot of money and work to change the climate. How much to just change the weather?

It might be the climate... weather is only short term, and the weather combined is climate. Cost of climate change is cumulative and as far as cost goes, the sky's the limit. I have no idea of where this will take us. In a worst case, the weather we've seen in the last year may only be the beginning of something a lot worse. I have no idea of how this will end. Take a look at the warming stripes for Arizona. The red at the RHS (right hand side) indicates how much it has heated up in the last few years. 2023 isn't shown, but it should be noticeably warmer.

Boy, there is a lot of bad news online about EVs. Fires are a real problem because they can start spontaneously. One house was destroyed when a Mercedes burned. The car was a loaner from the dealer while her own Mercedes was being serviced. Another house was severely damaged when a Tesla burst into flames. Water is useless for putting out lithium fires. Fire departments use special blankets costing $3k - $5k to smother the fire. They then haul the car away in a procession with police and fire engines. They leave the blanket on for a day or more to keep oxygen from letting the fire restart.

Sales are tanking, with dealers having EVs sit on their lots. Charging away from home typically costs more than filling the tank with gas. When many cars are charging from the same station, the amount of charge going to each car is reduced proportionally. A reported rented an EV to do a story on it. During a long trip, she said she spent more time charging the car than sleeping. The car got more "recharging" than she did. Replacing the battery can cost more than the car - $60,000 for a $55,000 Hyundai. Car makers are starting to produce their own batteries so they won't be at the mercy of battery makers. Still, with a limited supply of lithium, prices will continue rise. Reliability is an issue because the car is basically running on software, and you know how reliable that can be. Repairs can be ridiculously expensive.

I never had any interest in buying an EV, but now I'm dead set against them. Give me gas any day. (Enter a humorous comment here.)

A friend had an EV, but he sold it and bought a pickup truck. He didn't go into details.

TODAY’s news; “Chicago-area Tesla charging stations lined with dead cars in freezing cold: 'A bunch of dead robots out here'….” As the ICE vehicles continue to operate just fine. A lot of PO’d folks out there I guess.

No, mostly people blame LIBERALS (and socialists) for most of the considered “ills” of present.

It is just that the Democratic Party represents the liberal, democrat-socialist, “woke” community. . . .

However, blind can be good when it race. I did not bring up MLK, but as long as someone does, we should emphasize rather the actual words as compared to the race-driven policies of the Democrat party defined in black and white, no pun intended, in their dozens of references to color in their national platform and all throughout their politics. Rhetorical question: have you ever heard that requiring a government issued photo ID to operate a motor vehicle is a racist ploy to keep non-whites off public roads?

I have been writing and calling my reps and senators to introduce legislation to disallow any reference to race in all future federal legislation and executive policies. What a concept. I encourage others to do the same. It would never fly, of course, but only because Democrats can never let go of race as a permanent campaign issue. But MLK is gone now so the left can use him any way they want. So, no, I did not use MLK. Others do that. I just responded to an earlier post with a few irrefutable facts.

See in the news where Teslas have become non operational in Chicago? With temperatures of -20 and lower, the batteries won’t charge. Apparently the warmer the battery temperature is the faster it will charge. The reporter interviewed one Tesla owner who had his car on charge for 3 hours and still had a battery charge of 0%.

We all know about H2 gas produced when a lead-acid battery is charging, but yours is the first I ever heard of an actual mishap. We are happy to know that acid did not end up on your face. Scary stuff.

30+ years ago as I was driving home in my Volvo station wagon when the battery exploded.
I didn't realize my car made that LOUD BANG!
The car ran fine for the entire 45 mile trip.
After I arrived home something told me to open the hood for looksie.
The battery was blown open and battery acid all over things under the hood.
Even though I washed down under the hood, the paint pealed where the acid coated it.
The blown open battery still worked.

I would be suspect of the charger.

You must’ve had a car with a generator rather alternator right ?

Older cars ,before computers, you could disconnect the ground wire while the car was still running to test the alternator. Doing this to newer cars will damage the computer system.

Please don’t think for a moment that Democrats are the only ones doing this. In Wisconsin, our Republican legislature has put licensing fees for Hybrids and EV almost twice what ICV are paying. By all means, let’s not try to reward people who are trying to help solve a problem. It wasn’t bad enough that I had to pay taxes on the 32 solar panel array I put in to do the same thing.

The licensing fee should be four times as much as a ICV vehicle.
Why?
Simple, road repair and upkeep need to go on wither or not it an EV or an ICE vehicle.
ICE vehicles cover that with the taxes on their fuel.
EV's don't.

They should be taxed at the charging stations, including their home car chargers, equivalent to fuel taxes on non EV cars.
