Does anyone know of an app for a Windows 11 PC, that will help transfer photos from a connected iPhone 11, organizing them in folders by date? Right now, using just the Windows OS, it puts all the photos in one place (of its choosing) in a continuous scroll. I would like to have them transfer into folders by date, and also have them save to the D drive, not the C drive. (D drive is a large capacity internal SSD specifically for photos.). Thank you!

Once the files are transferred to your win 11 computer there are numerous ways to move files to different folders. The link that follows shows several options and you can choose the one you prefer. Probably drag and drop is the easiest depending on your computer skills. Good luck.

Emailing photos to yourself is OK if you want to transfer a couple of pictures, but isn't practical if you have 200 photos.

I'm not sure when it changed, but Apple is now storing photos on their phones in folders named by date - the current folder is 202401_. It's real easy to use Windows Explorer to simply drag each folder over to a desired location keeping the same name, changing the name, or drag the files within it to another folder on the PC. Then is just a matter of sorting individual files.

I occasionally email a file or two to myself, but I don't get the idea of mass mailing of files - this consumes a HUGE amount of file space & bandwidth, which quickly chocks the email app.

Finally, can we just get away from bashing phone photography at every opportunity? It can be a serious tool in the right hands in the right circumstances, even if some of us don't yet understand that.

You can specify the destination drive. You can copy all to PC, organize by date and then move them.

Hello YellowDog and David M, and other UHHers. Thank you all for your suggestions. YellowDog - SanDisc used to sell those two sided USB drives in Costco. I have several. And yes, they would do the job with the intermediate step of transferring the photos to the SanDisc first. The nice thing is that you can actually make folders in that USB drive as you copy off your iPhone, which makes it faster to then upload them to your computer. David M, I’ll check out the app you gave the link for. Thanks to everyone for offering suggestions. JimR

Does iPhone have "Nearby Share" or equivalent? Airdrop? My Galaxy phone has nearby share, so I put the app on my desktop computer, and very quickly share (not move) photos from my phone to the designated files on my Windows computer. I don't think Windows has anything to do with the actual process, though. I do not sync my photos from phone to anything else, so I go back and delete the images from my phone.

I deleted my post because I realized that the OP didn't have any problem tranfering the files. What he wanted is that when tranfering the files he want them to automatically sorted and separated in different folders by date.
