That's quite an accomplishment. She obviously is serious about her sport. That kind of commitment will serve her well in her future career. She has focus and direction in her life. Kudos to her and all that have helped her reach her current level of skill. I look forward to seeing her compete on television soon I hope, perhaps the Olympics?

Congratulations to her. I can understand your pride. My grandson was on a swim team for about 3 years when he was younger. He was very good and I was always proud of him even when he didn't win.

Absolutely! To me, it's always been about the desire and willingness, and never about the end results.

No, I don't see any Olympics in her future. It's funny,
she loves to push herself, but does not like "competing,"
if that makes any sense.

In earlier years of her swimming career, she would feel
like she let the coach and team down if she didn't come
in first or second. She finally got past that, which was
good for her mentally, and now takes pride in just being
able to do it.

Congratulations to her, for her accomplishment! Most people do not have a clue as to how hard long distance swimming is! It can/will suck the strength right out of your body!

Sounds like someone that's done it in a previous life...lol

Thanks, Doug, and to everyone that took the time
to extend congratulations; I'll be sure to pass them on!

Sounds like scholarship time..

That would be nice, but she has her career already laid out
and it will be in forestry. I don't believe the local Penn State
Campus (Mont Alto) has a swim team, but perhaps in two
years when she transfers to Main Campus.

Proud, for good reason, bet if she took 38 minutes you would be proud. I know I would.
Go girl

You are so right! I can't even imagine swimming that
far nonstop at all, regardless of time!

Thanks for the kind words, Art! She is very focused not
only on her sports (tennis as well), but on her career in
forestry as well!

I know she has no interest in "competing" at a higher level,
at least at this time, and that's fine by me. She actually was
very stressed out a couple years back when she felt she had
left the team/coach down if she didn't come in first or second.

Now, she focuses on the task at time, and enjoying the swim.

She did the same thing in tennis. The scholastic girls team she
was on won the District title two years in a row and finished
fourth in states this year. She and her partner were the #4
doubles team in the states as well.

While in college I did, once it for a 'test'! Later, in the Buffalo River, Arkansas (it isn't near that wide!)... good thing I had learned to do the 'Dead Man Float' on that swim! It was amazing how quickly your arms can/will REFUSE to move!

There is nothing wrong with being proud!!

Congratulations to you and Joslyn!

She has a promising future for life. Any one of us can dream for ourselves. When a child we know begins to make their dreams reality, we should be proud that they will accomplish anything they set their minds to do.

Since we are sharing… My daughter finished with her Master’s in Music Education from Fredonia Univ. She plays 12 musical instruments and is teaching at St. Bernard Catholic Academy. Extremely rewarding and great pay and benefits for a first job.

All we can do is to stand up, applaud and be overwhelmed with joy that these children are accomplishing what they set their minds to.

Thanks for the kind words and kudos to you and your daughter. I can't even read one note of music and the only instruments I've ever attempted would be the ever present elementary school "Recorder" and in 9th or 10th grade, the cymbals...lol.

I agree about being so proud of our offspring when THEIR dreams start coming true from their hard work! Again, congrats!
