I found a much wider variety of photo magazines at the local college library. That might be a good place to visit to see first-hand some of what is out there.

Greetings, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a photography magazine that would be worth subscribing to. In my area, there seems to be definitely a lack of photo magazines in stores. I'm looking for something that has some quality information and is not 90% advertising. I know that's a lot to ask for, but that's my goal. I appreciate your thoughts and Happy New Year to all my "HOG" friends.

You are much better off by googling any questions you may have about photography. Here you will find many video's that answer your specific questions regarding photography.
You should try it, it has been working for many here for years.

That's true but there is something about holding a magazine or newspaper in your hands while flipping through the pages.

I have a tablet that I only use for reading material. It is in a leather case that opens like a book.
It's not paper, but if you close your eyes ...

I subscribe to a UK publication called Photo Plus, the Canon magazine. They have both digital and print versions. There is very little advertising and very good information and features. Its not cheap, but I feel it is woth the investment.

Digital Camera a British magazine is very good. It also features Photoshop, Lightroom and Affinity tutorials every month with downloadable videos. They are very good. Check it out it is worth the subscription. They also have a Canon and Nikon magazine that are very good with the same features.

If you want to see what is available go to Barns & Noble and check them out. I found they have a lot of British Mags. Very Expensive and talk about the older cameras. Found next to nothing on the Mirrorless cameras.

I subscribe to N-Photo and Digital Camera. Both British magazines, which I think are super. There is also a British magazine called Digital Photographer which is also very good.

If your a Nikon user I would recommend NPHOTO. They have hard copy and internet subscriptions.

Advertisement is part of our daily living, I do not believe we can outlive it. The Interned is plagued with them and not knowing what you need I would say that if it is learning photography or more photography than you know your priority you should find online all you need to become better I can give you some examples if that is the case. The website of South African photographer Neil van Niekerk will teach you all the flash techniques you need to know, Steve Perry has also an excellent website where you can find lots of information about Nikon cameras and there is more.

A magazine without 90% of advertisement will be possible only in fantasy island.

The folks who publish N-Photo and Digital Camera also publish a magazine which focusses on Canon cameras and lenses, but I don't recall the name. The publisher is "My Favourite Magazines"

The only magazine I subscribe to now is EOS Magazine which is entirely dedicated to Canon products. It's a great resource for me. Comes from Britain so you pay a premium price, I think around $42.

Sadly, I agree. My response has been to subscribe to publications now in electronic form through my public library. I use both the Libby app and Hoopla Digital, and they sync between phone, tablet and laptop, so I have my reading material available no matter where I am.

I also agree. My last photo magazine bit the dust in 2023. And I gave stopped visiting my local Barns and Noble store as they do not carry many photo magazines anymore.
