She certainly had a strong voice, but always melodic. I was always a fan going back to the days when she was the lead singer with the Stone Ponies!

Bought the album in college when it came out, love it and her subsequent ones done with Nelson Riddle. I seem to recall an interview where director Riddle was very complementary of her.

I also have the double CD album. Many years ago, I ripped it and converted to mp3 format and included it in my music library. I can play it through my PC or via my Sonos system. I listened to it today and decided to "reshare" it with my UHH friends. It is so sad about her illnesses. She had a magnificent voice and delivered it beautifully. The double album has a unique set of wonderful compositions, many included in jazz vocalist repertoires. Consequently, I love the album.

It's been a long time since I've heard that song and I had really forgotten what a beautiful voice she had. I enjoyed that and that you for posting it for us.

Nice! Linda was a bit of a shape shifter throughout her career. She could sing opera, country, rock, hard rock, folk, pop, Mexican folk music, and American Popular Song, probably all on the same stage over the course of an evening if she chose.

In 2013, she was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but learned later that she has a Parkinson's-like disorder called progressive supranuclear palsy. Sadly, as a result, she doesn't perform any more.

I heard her live, in the 1970s, in an outdoor arena. She stopped mid-song after inhaling an insect of some sort, calmly left the stage for a moment, came back, and finished the concert. Her only comment was, "Thanks. I had to extract the bug." That got a good laugh...

A very sad departure of the music scene.
She’s missed!

Yep. I knew her folk rock work with the Stone Poneys in the late 1960s. Then she went mainstream rock with the help of a bunch of studio musicians from L.A. When I was in country radio briefly in the late '70s, she had several crossover hits on both pop and country charts at the same time. She kept evolving... always a total professional about whatever genre she was singing. She loved the microphone.

Here's a really old clip of Linda singing with the Stone Poneys for some sort of TV show. The band is awful. She's rising above...

That wasn’t known as country then. It was West Coast folk. A much later version was recorded as pop, and crossed over as a country song. Linda played the club scene in L.A. a lot in those days. I’ve seen several old clips of her from back then.
