đź‘Ťđź‘Ť I especially like the first photo.
When I was a kid, we lived in Long Island City about two blocks north of Queens Plaza. We lived on the top floor of a six story walkup and my Dad often took me on trips to the roof and from our unobstructed view he’d point out all the highlights along the skyline. Dad grew up almost directly across the East River and he’d tell me stories about his adventures on the streets of his neighborhood and where our relatives lived in Yorkville. He also gave me some lessons in perspective when he explained that while, from our angle, the Chrysler Building appeared taller than the Empire State Building the opposite was actually the case…as with many things in life.
The first is awesome, great capture, talk about getting the timing right.

Nice shots! I didn't know there were tall buildings in LI City. I thought everything on LI consisted of 1-3 story suburban residences and 8-12 story condos. It looks like a section of Manhattan!

Long Island City is physically located on the southwestern tip of Long Island in the borough of Queens, one of the five boroughs that make up New York City. It’s separated from the borough of Manhattan by the East River.
The “skyline” has developed over the last twenty years or so when the business world ran out of room in the City and expanded across the river bringing a need for living space as well. Prior to that LIC was largely residential, some single family and two family homes and four/five story apartment buildings and some light industry. LIC and the adjacent Astoria section of Queens became hot spots for a generation whose parents considered it an accomplishment when they were able to upgrade with a move to Long Island or other NY suburbs.

Thanks for the update. It most likely has been 20 years since I was last on LI. For the past three years, I've planned to head out to Montauk either just before the summer rate hike for accommodations or just after. The last time I was out there I visited Cameta Camera in Amityville (I believe they are gone now). I also shot the lighthouse at Fire Island. That is about the farthest I've been on the Island. I live in PA near the NJ border so a drive to Montauk isn't such a long drive but lazy me, I've just not done it.
