Taking a photo during the day is typical, bright, and may competitive side images. Changing a day photo to one looking as tho taken at night and vignetting gives a different story. Here the fishing ship "Virgin de Lourdes" appears to be just coming into port after a long day at sea.
After struggling to edit some fine parts, I am prompted to buy an edit pad the trackball or a mouse just does not do well. Your thoughts?

The way the light falls off it looks like it was shot with a flash.
Nicely done. I use the day to night LUT in ACR to start the process. I use a Huion pad occasionally. I got it when I had a repetitive motion problem with my mouse. I never mastered it but it has possibilities if I had patience
Thank you bdk and John for your comments. Yes, the dark adds drama and your right John a flash would do that limited area effect. As you implied bdk, the original photo was so cluttered I had come up with a way of limit the image to a focused dramatic story about one particular boat.
Now you you got me thinking. As Jack mentioned using the LUT in Photoshop. Along with a light to dark gradient. I will have to play around with this idea.

In the past, I have used Negative Images of my work at hand, and done work on the Negative image and then Negative again to go back to the original lighting and coloration. What you see in the negative is in a different world and what you decide to edit or remove becomes more obvious.
The free XRay CRT program. The program has a large pseudo-color library.. LUT choice.
