What a little beauty Carson was so very sorry for your loss Jo. Our lives are so much richer for the pets we have had over the years.

Thank you so much Sylvia. My life has been blessed with so many wonderful pets throughout my 86 years. I still have one Quaker Parrot. A good talker but would love nothing better than to bite as many people as possible. She so funny and will keep me laughing.

Only those who have been at this place truly know the feeling.
How something so small can leave such a huge hole in ones heart?

LITTLE LIVES

WE WHO CHOOSE TO SURROUND OURSELVES WITH
LIVES EVEN MORE TEMPORARY THAN OUR OWN,
LIVE WITHIN A FRAGILE CIRCLE,
EASILY AND OFTEN BREACHED.

UNABLE TO ACCEPT ITS AWFUL GAPS,
WE STILL WOULD LIVE NO OTHER WAY.

WE CHERISH MEMORY,
AS THE ONLY CERTAIN IMMORTALITY,
NEVER FULLY UNDERSTANDING THE NECESSARY PLAN.

Lovely to hear you have some company Jo, as long as she doesn’t frighten visitors off.

Two more comments. Why do dogs have such a short life compared to humans. About all they do is eat, sleep and crap. No smoking or drinking and get pampered most of the time.

Also, a guy told me one time, ever wonder who loves you more your wife or your dog??? Lock your wife and the dog in the trunk of the car for about a half hour on a hot day. Watch which one is happy to see you when you let them out!

That just about sums it up Bob. Thank you so much.

Thank goodness she will stay away from people unless they try to walk up and pet her. He has the run of my computer room be loves to sit on top of her cage and never goes after anyone. She won't bother them as long as they don't bother her. Birds are smarter than people even know. She called my husband for almost 3 year after he passed away and cried like a newborn baby when he didn't answer her. Parrots usually take up with just one person and he was her person, She tolerates me and occasionally will give cuddles but not often and not to anyone else.

No doubt that dogs will forgive your scolding, wag all over and come right back for some hugs. Quite amazing. They get their feelings hurt easily but they seem to forget just as easily and come wagging right back to you.

I had to put my 2 pound, 17 year old Yorkie to sleep today. Give your pets an extra hug tonight. Can't say more because it's hard to see what I'm typing when my eyes are raining.

I’m sorry for your loss. I know the pain of saying goodbye to a family member. Our fur babies are so innocent, trusting and depending on us. It’s never easy to say goodbye for awhile. I’m in my early 70’s and wonder how empty my remaining life might be without a pet companion. I know I will not raise another kitten; unless I join a rescue group.

I have been thinking, as I age, to adopt an aged pet or one in medical need of that final loving home. Or helping with a cat/kitten rescue group. Perhaps those options might work for me or others. I too, don’t want to leave a confused beloved pet behind..

Thank you and I'm sorry for your loss as well. The take up a very large area of the heart and it takes a long time to accept it.

Thank you Mario. I feel the same way. While I would love to give a good loving home to a pet that has lost the human in its life or perhaps getting old and no place to go, I hesitate. I have had a dog all of my 86 years and grieved so hard when I lost them. I don't think I want to go though that grieving any more.

Jo,

So sorry to hear about your Carson. What an absolutely adorable Yorkie. I know you are devastated, but think about the wonderful life you gave him. I am sure he loved every minute he spent in your company.

Bob

I'm not sure why you say that it is foolish to get attached to our pets. Frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I feel your pain. I put my Persian cat down December 5, 2022. It's been a little over a year and I still think of her every day and her passing still brings tears to my eyes.
