I know the beautiful sky is the center of interest in this beautiful image. The city is important too and if I were shooting this scenery my tendency would have been to also use a tele for the "intimate landscape." The tele will put the city in the first plane but still the viewer will have a good look at the beautiful sky.

You are right, and I did do that, but I felt that the sky was more important than the city here.
I like that you see the city after you look at the sky for a while. It is like discovering a secret passageway.
