I was told by some park managers that the dominant tree (One on the left) will eventually kill the other tree.

Must be a very slow death.
Maybe the subordinate tree just gives up.

Wow, that's a cool picture. I never heard of inosculation, but Google knows everything.

"This phenomenon is known as inosculation, which occurs when two individual trees growing in close proximity become morphologically joined. It's important to note that inosculation is different from grafting in that it is a naturally occurring phenomenon"
