s USB 3.1 faster than USB-C?
USB-C is capable of 40 Gbps, perhaps a bit more, but with protocols other than USB 3. x. USB 3.0 is capable of up to 5 Gbps, USB 3.1 up to 10 Gbps, and USB 3.2 up top 20 Gbps.

USB-C is a connector type, there is a better cable that is used with them. It just happens that faster speeds are used with them. The speed defining point is not the connector, but the cable characteristics and the supporting circuitry. The connector itself does not affect the speed. Case in point: the C connector cables that have a USB-A connector at the other end.....
And the C connector is not direction oriented, it can be inserted either up or down.

Thanks, that's the best chart I've seen!
I think I have every one of them.
I can never tell if I need a mini or micro until I try to plug one in.
