I am still LingOL. My day has been made good, thanks.

I also have a pacemaker that was implanted in 2017 and which is claimed to be MRI safe, but only up to a point. It's OK if they use one of the older model MRI's, like the ones that were around in 2017, but some of newer ones have much more powerful magnets and those are NOT MRI safe.
Note that I also have a bedside monitor which 'phones home' (calls the pacemaker manufacturer) once a month or so and downloads data for that month. I then get a phone call telling me the status of the device including the amount of battery life left (based on my last call, I'm at about 40%). I also go to my cardiologist twice a year and he does a scan as well and occasionally does a 'tune-up' (change the programing a bit).
Now as for monitoring the device using a smart phone, I was told that if l lived in Europe or Asia that that wouldn't be a problem, but here in the US it's illegal for anyone other than medical professionals to have access to the information collected by your pacemaker, that this information can only to provided to you by your doctor or the manufacturer.
With that in mind, I just checked and apparently something has changed since I was able to download the Biotronik app (the last time I tried that, maybe two or three years ago, was when I was notified that I couldn't because my phone was registered in the US) onto my iPhone. Now I'm not sure what sort of data it'll be able to provide me, but at least it does give a battery status and does inform me when the last time the bedside monitor made a transmission. It also seems to be able to track my pulse rate, but then I've been able to do that for years with my Apple Watch.
Observing the "fashion statements" available everywhere, I am amazed at the absolute ruggedness of current phones! I mean, being habitually kept in the hip pocket of size 12 jeans that a size 16+ backside has been shoehorned into, leaving a faded outline (of the phone!) on the pocket, and still working is a wonder to me. The beautiful wristwatch my good wife presented me with before I retired still keeps good time, right beside the computer.
Many times I forget to take my phone when I leave the house. Have never forgotten my watch!

My wonderful wife gifted me with one of those "smart watches" for XMAS.
I have spent more than a few hours working on it, put the app on my "smart phone", connected the watch to the phone, turning on certain features at the watch, learning that some features can only be set using the phone. This thing is confusing as all get out to me, I have eight "dumb watches" that I rotate wearing as it is. When and if I ever get this watch figured out, it may well be on my wrist the majority of the time, just to prove to family and friends that I mastered the evil thing. Hope everyone else also had a Merry Christmas!

I picked up an Apple iWatch Ultra this year because I have fallen a few times, and the watch will send you a notification asking if you’re ok, and it also contacts emergency services with the location if needed using the Apple iPhone satellite service.
Yes, my Series 7 Apple Watch also has the fall and emergency notification feature.

If you carry a cellular phone, why do you wear a watch?
Some of us do not keep a cell phone glued to our hands. Why fish around in a coat pocket to check the time?
