Of course, the biggest and most well stocked camera store that I've ever be to is Yodobashi Camera. The store that I always visited was their main one, in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, Japan. The first time I was there was in 1982 when I bought a motor-drive for my Minolta XG-M SLR. I've stopped there several times since, picking us some minor stuff, like filters and such. It's just a fun place to shop.

Yodobashi is big but I like the little Map Camera better. Of course they are not local to me.

I like Southeastern Camera in Raleigh, NC. It is a large store that is packed tight with new and used cameras and every type of equipment and accessory you can imagine. The salespeople are nice and knowledgeable. The prices are competitive.

In Sarasota Fl there is Johnson Photo Imaging. They carry a lot of inventory. I don’t know anything about repair services.
Also Service Photo in Baltimore on Falls Road. People like them. I have not been there.
And Green Mountain Camera in Burlington Vermont. They have a fair amount of inventory in the store and the warehouse. I got a tripod from them when I forgot mine.

Best Buy stores vary considerably. Some have a good variety of Fujifilm, Sony, Lumix, Canon, Nikon, and others under one roof while other stores barely have a camera section. I think any inventory that not new is labeled as such unless you know differently. Some stores even schedule times when working professionals are in the store to help. I don't trust their computer staff from a handful of bad experiences, but the stores that have a decent photo sections can be worth a visit.

For those of you in the Midwest, particularly in St. Louis, we have a long time and excellent camera store called Schillers Camera. I've purchased nearly all of my Canon camera equipment. In fact, when I wanted to look at a 100-400 lens, I was shocked by the price tag. But they told me I could do well to purchase a used one. It might take a little while, perhaps a month and folks come in with "I want a stronger lens", and trade their old one in. In about three weeks, the manager called and told me he has already had one, but didn't like it for me. But a customer brought one in, new in original box, and I paid about 1/2 list price. And, to top it off, I had 30 day return, no questions asked. And they have a great website. www.schillers.com. BTW, I'm a teacher, and do not work for them, so this is not a "commercial" written by them, but by a long time customer.

IF you are in Long Beach, California a GREAT camera shop it Tuttle's Camera!! The address is, 5467 E Carson St, Long Beach, CA 90808, it is near Long Beach Airport. They moved, this is a fairly new location, so come and see their new store!! They have some of the best old, hard to find film cameras as well as the latest and greatest digital DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Thank YOU Anthony, THANK YOU Eric!!!

I drive for over an hour each way to the camera store. It's worth it to keep them alive. I can pick up, handle and ask questions about each thing before buy it. You can talk to a person that has several brands of equipment and have the knowledge to answer questions.

I think fir Wa, Seattle area, we just have Glazers in Seattle and Kenmore Camera. I use Kenmore Camera and have purchased my last 3 cameras from them.
