Felonious Drinkmore an alcoholic and his wife Florescence have acted out the same "New Year's Resolution" ritual for years. Without fail, he would say "I am quitting. Mix me one last drink to end the old year... just one." If in January she reminded him of his resolution, he would protest with a loud slurred cursing voice, and several times the neighbors called the police.
"Dear, make me one last drink at midnight." "To celebrate 2024 and my quitting" ... Each year, the same New Year Resolution... "No more drinking, I quit"... Our heroine Florescence is sure this midnight drink will be his last and he will never drink in 2024. The dry tart of a Gin-and-Tonic continuing a bit of Quinine covers a lot of strange, unwelcome flavors, especially with a couple of special sugar cubes added.
The police respected the tearful widow, Fluorescence, they expressed sympathy and she was not investigated. Felonious had a criminal history to fit his name. The officers were glad to see him go.

Great story and shot. I used to know a guy like him, he committed suicide. Laying in his bed he shot himself in the head--three times

I am having a hardy laugh... Three times huh, old saying,
"If at first, you don't succeed, try, try again."

What a sight! It captivated me as soon as it came on the screen. The sharp use of color MADE this image! Your story was also a good one.

Thank you for feeling the impact of the colors. I love Halloween and all the crazy dyes and glow colors that are sold at a reasonable price.
I mentioned what items I used, but failed to say that I used a UV flashlight to excite the fluorescent materials. There are wonderful 128-bulb UV 395nm flashlights, amazing, only $18 Amazon. If one goes outside and sines it on the lawn the little flowers glow as does some of the mulch... insects too... glow.
I have a set of 4 inks that I bought for a 4 color UV inkjet ink to reload the carts... never did. But the ink was useful for the sugar cubes. The inks would have been used for 1980s glow-in-the-UV dark Peter Max wall posters.
Fluorescence is a pleasant woman's name, kids at school would call her Flow. Fluorescence was a charming woman known for her glowing personality. The husband's name Felonious fits the definition of the word... a felon... evil ... Consider, that names have an influence on a child's and then the adult's behavior.

UV Glow in Your Kitchen
William you're showing the remainder of his last meal !!
Your framing of the circle is called a Circumscribed Circle. We learned about that in 10th Grade Geometry. The teacher called on me to say what it was... I said it's a Circumcised Circle... one 12th-grade girl in the 10th-grade class burst out with loud laughter... Carol Barker was her name... for me, it was a very embarrassing never-to-be-forgotten moment. I laugh now remembering.
Interesting story. Nice image!
Thank you Fstop. UV fluorescence gives us a different view of the world.
Love the backstory and photo. Good way to start the New Year with an old idea.

The image is quite nice with all the pretty colors.....that is until we read the story and colors become haunting.
Nicely done. Great imagination and very creative.

I like the crispness and colours of the image Don, and Felonious sounds an interesting fellow to know.
Dpullum, a job very well done. Bombay Blue Saphire Gin was my gin of choice with either tonic water or better yet, with lemonade.
I had to switch to vodka for gin would sneak up on me and by the time I started to feel the effect coming on, it was too late for the floor is hard, and in the winter it was cold.😁
