On December 25, 1776 Washington and the colonists crossed the Delaware river and headed to Trenton where they defeated the Hessian army in the battle of Trenton. The Washington crossing the Delaware reenactment has been going on for the last 71 years. This year was the 247 anniversary of that event. It was the turning point of the revolutionary war. What was really amazing was the country had no money and the continental congress was unable to give the troops anything. It was quite a feat for the time. I believe the Hessian’s retreated all the way to Princeton.
