You’re correct - I’m obviously naive - I thought that most religious people had resolved their differences with science (which is impossible to ignore) and it was no longer a source of controversy. Sadly, I am mistaken and the anti science and anti vaxers are still with us and offended. For what it’s worth, I believe in a Deity - the evidence is before me daily, but I’m also an absolute believer in the scientific method and have been involved in science all my life and I see no dichotomy in that. I personally know many MDs that are men of faith yet have reconciled that with scientific fact.

Again, this was in no way intended to start a debate on religion, just the belief or non belief in science and its consequences, and of course the coincidence with Christmas was completely unintentional - just saw this posted on another forum and thought it was thought provoking and worth repeating. Apparently not, and since the topic has descended to the attic, I’m no longer reading or responding after this.

It’s a shame that whoever felt the need to report it to admin could not participate in a polite and reasoned discourse on a topic of current interest without dragging it into the abyss. Not very different than banning or burning books that you disagree with instead of arguing your point intelligently. And of course, we have the poster(s) that made it political and broke the rules (you know who you are). I thank everyone else for their polite and intelligent discourse, whatever your beliefs.

I guess Dr. Falsi (aka Fauci) is an exception

It was Trump that made the mask, a first echelon pandemic control tool, political. Next he inflamed the poorly educated with 'dodgy vaxxes'. He ended up getting 500,000 people killed for cheap political ends.

And here’s yet another thread where YOU are the only one to mention Trump. You play the fool so well… Trumpette.

Why? Not political or religious in any way.

Now as to anyone that thinks this is an anti-religion post in any manner, it is not, and you are misreading my intention in posting. It’s a comment on the recent anti science crowd, which I think is dangerous for our society. Personally, I have no problem in believing in both the Deity and evolution - I do and find the two completely compatible. It was never my intention to cause a religious debate on Christmas (or any other time), and if you see it that way, maybe the question is why the simple comment about science and evolution offends and threatens you.

Shame on you fools that couldn't handle an intelligent discussion and sent this topic to the Attic. I'm calling you out as un-American and un-patriotic. Your senseless, ignorant and stupid attitudes and actions are destroying this country. And yes, I recognize that your brotherhood of fools is populated by non-thinkers from both the political right and the left. Shame on you all.

Chris, I agree with you that science and religion are not incompatible. I had a very dear friend who was a physicist and a priest and had no problem moving comfortably in both worlds. I'm sorry your topic was derailed; unfortunately there is no way of keeping the vermin locked up in the Attic....

Thanks. I had intelligent religion and philosophy professors who dug deeper than the average.

You missed the whole point. Evolution is not a belief.

So I used the wrong word. Big deal. Rest assured, I get it.

The bottom-bottom line on all of this is that -- Of course, MR."D" got it right and we are all damn lucky to be here --
MERRY CHRISTMAS to one & all
I sure as hell hope that 2024 turns out to be a whole lot better than I fear it will be

Appreciate the thumbs up at this point. It appears I've poked a hornet's nest with a stick for those who can't tolerate that I don't think the way they do. Sagan's comment addressed only evolution not math, science and logic in general. In this country, we have a constitution that says we have unalienable rights among them, life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, granted by our Creator. And we have first amendment rights to freedom of speech, religion, assembly and the press so we can express our views regardless of what others think.

Honestly, I am completely baffled as to how this has become a religious discussion.

I am sure your intent was to create a battle between Evilutionists and believers in God, why else would you have posted this the day before Christmas or anytime for that matter?

I’m very sure that was not even remotely his intent. You obviously are not familiar with TRIX. He is among the finest subscribers.

Well I am certain that you are wrong about the intent and yes I am familiar with the OP. One only needs to read the text of the meme to know that was the intent.
