While fishing yesterday near the Roberts boat ramp bridge I noticed an Eagle sitting where he usually sits, on top of a power pole over 100 yards away. This time I had my trusty Sony RX10IV camera in the truck so took some photos of him.

I also took a photo of the bridge from the boat ramp side of the river. I hope you like all of them.

Right place right time for the eagle. Nice.

The Eagle shots are great, Dennis. Especially from over 100 yards! I'm not familiar with the RX10IV. Are the photos taken with a built-in zoom?

Thanks very much Chief. Your comments are always appreciated.

My somewhat photography mentor and a retired commercial photographer suggested the Sony RX10IV after he had used one for a year or so. His words were that the lens was as sharp as almost any other and the camera would do 99% of what my other cameras would do. I bought one and have found his words are absolutely correct, for me. I add that stipulation because I don't want someone to buy one and then think I was lying if they don't like the camera.

Yes he camera has a built in zoom. The normal zoom goes from 24-600mm as measured from the point of view of a 35mm camera. But there is a button the left side of the lens that when you press the button once zooms to 800mm and then when pushed a second time goes to 1200mm. I have been told the sharpness falls off when using the 800 or 1200 zoom but if it does I have not seen it in any appreciable amount. Of course YMMV.

Almost of the photos I have submitted in the past year or so, from portraits to landscapes and including macro have been with this camera. I use the lens zoomed to 600mm for very close macro photos such as the dragonflies, spiders and so on. All are sharp when I do my part. I got mine from Bedford Camera with a great deal. Price is about $1800.00.
