If you see an online report that someone famous died, don't be too quick to believe it. Last night, a YouTube channel said that Charlie Sheen and Tim Allen died recently. I was doubtful, so I looked further. Nope! It's all over TikTok, too. The channel is "actorwhodiedtoday." Some reports are correct, but most are wrong.

This is a good example of the Internet spreading lies that people are quick to believe.

Maybe the report only meant that their careers had died.

A few years back, someone put out a vid that Stallone had died. It really is funny (& not funny) how false rumors spread about. Think someone could be held responsible?

You have to have a healthy level of skepticism when dealing with social media.

I believe very little of what I see on the internet, emails and especially Facebook. Here's one example. Yesterday, someone on Facebook Neighborhood watch asked what was going on at a house on a certain street in town. They said that 8 black unmarked cards were at the house. Someone said it was a drug bust. It was NOT a drug bust. There were NOT 8 black unmarked cars. There were about 10 cars, vans and trucks of different models and colors. It was at the house across the street from me. I saw it on my cameras and when I went to see if she was OK, I HEARD what it was as soon as I opened my door. They were a church group singing Christmas carols! What is wrong with people?

I have been reporting these fake deaths to Youtube Admin and they have sent acknowledgements to me on the report status and taking the sites down. Youtube is out of control. There have even been FAKE phishing scams using Elon Musk and his Falcon 9 satellite launches as bait. Disgusting liars.

Same with Facebook and Facebook doesn't care what content is on their site. They just quote the net neutrality law. This is why it needs to be repealed. Millions of dollars are scammed by fake advertisements on Facebook.

It is a rather recent "Clickbait" strategy to get you to watch the video or read the articles so that they can make more money and attract advertisers. It is really annoying especially for some of us older folks who are seeing the icons of our generation die off.
