This is the first Jazz album I bought. Maybe strange for a Rock & Roll teenager in the mid 1960s, but I heard the song “Take Five” and immediately loved it. I couldn’t find a 45 RPM record with Take Five on it so I saved up my pennies and bought the album. This album and that song started my love affair with Jazz. By the way, I still love the song and it still get goose bumps when I listen to it.

I can not watch you tube on my laptop because it says I have ad block on and I did not do this and can not seem to find a way to stop it from blocking my access to you tube. Does anyone know a solution? I have the you tube app and it works as it should but not from a link UHH.

I believe it was so popular they played it on the pop radio stations. I was also a fan of it as a teenager, and I never listened to a jazz radio station. I remember being on vacation with the family and we ate out somewhere they had a jazz combo playing and people were making requests, so I requested it and they played it.

My first paycheck at age 15 (1955) allowed me to buy Brubeck's "Jazz Goes to College" album. I still have it. Of course, I listened to it so much that even with care, it's not in very good condition anymore. "Balcony Rock" rocks !!!!

"Time Out" is one of the true jazz masterpieces. I remember when it was released. I had been a Brubeck Quartet fan for a few previous years.
I hope I'm not stealing your thunder, but I'm going to post my favorite Brubeck composition. It was first released on a vinyl recording from Newport Jazz Festival in 56'. Even as a teenager in the '60's I had that album added to my Beach Boys, Beatles, Stones, etc. albums. Later on, as a Grateful Dead/jam band follower, I listened to that album and realized who was the first to do long, unscripted jams. Rock owes a lot to jazz.

Yes, rock owes a lot to Jazz as well as other genres. I think that all the different forms of music are interrelated.

My son has an Apple Music family plan, so he was able to put Apple Music on my iPhone. I was able to pull up this album, Brubeck Plays Disney and many more. We're able to play wirelessly via CarPlay through our vehicle's stereo system. I still wish it had a cd player, though (I've notice that not all of Chris Botti's albums are available, esp. one that I have and like).

There is also an associated music app for classical music. When I pulled up Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, it gave me a number of difference versions from which to select.

You can have all the music you desire with a Sonos speaker system. I have 59,000 mp3 files on an SSD in my PC. I installed a Sonos app (free) on my iPhone. I can play any of the 50,000 mp3 files on my PC. I went with a Sonos Arc connected to my TV, a subwoofer and two small "One speakers". The sound is as good as my stereo system used to be. I'm a fanatic music fan, so I spent a some dollars on the system, but I could have purchased just a "One" speaker for about $250. You can purchase mp3 files - about $1 an album and $.09 per track - at www.mp3million.com. Then you own the music.

You can download free mp3 files from YouTube, but their recent inclusion of commercials is interruptive and annoying. A subscription removes the commercials. I downloaded thousands of files before the commercials were present. All one needs is a converter. I paid $26 for mine, MP3Studio. I works like magic!!

I put thousands of mp3 files on a flash drive for playing in my car.

(Too me) that is funny, a Jazz 45 rpm (single). There are not many out there. But yes, I too was a Rock tween through teen. I started my Jazz love affair with Miles Davis' Kind of Blue album, especially "So What". I had also heard Dave Brubeck's "Take Five", and a few years later bought the Time Out LP. I too heard Jazz on Progressive Rock FM radio stations such as KMET and KLOS (Los Angeles area). I also quickly got in to fusion styles like The Mahavishnu Orchestra and Return To Forever. Today I like pretty all music but a few types. Not a fan of CW, gangsta rap, or death metal. These days my wife and I are downing in a house full of over 6.5k albums!
